Says no 'political differences, no administrative disagreements' | Prof Mattoo breaks silence on resignation | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 30: Breaking his weeklong silence over resignation from the post of Advisor to Chief Minister, globally-acclaimed intellectual Prof Amitabh Mattoo on Wednesday attempted to "stop the rumor mills" saying there were "no political differences or administrative disagreement" between him and the Government. Prof Mattoo took to social media to express his views. "To Stop the Rumour Mills: No Political Differences, No Administrative Quarrels! I am leaving for Melbourne after making a very personal decision in J&K which has no political or administrative causes or consequences; I stopped believing in the 'Great Men' version of history a long time ago," he posted on his Facebook account. Prof Amitabh equally disclosed that he was hospitalized in New Delhi on the day he was scheduled to fly to Australia and that now after recovery he was on way to Melbourne. "Unfortunately, on the day I was leaving for Australia I had to be hospitalised because of a high pulse rate and severe gastroenteritis. The great dream team of doctors has healed me and I am now on way to Oz to be with my family, including to attend the 2nd Leadership dialogue between India and Australia," he posted. The sources at the hospital, where Prof Mattoo was undergoing treatment told Early Times that a senior PDP leader had visited the hospital to inquire about his health. "One senior PDP leader who is also a Minister had come to this hospital to meet Professor Sahib, they spend some time together," the sources said. Prof Mattoo had resigned on November 23 soon after a meeting with the Chief Minister. It is believed that earlier on the fateful day some senior IAS officer had misbehaved with him, something which he didn't approve. His resignation has put the Peoples Democratic Party led government to severe embarrassment with many saying that the government was "unable to retain talent". Pertinently Prof Mattoo, despite holding the cadre of Cabinet minister was drawing a token salary of rupee one as advisor to the government. He would equally not avail benefits like travel expenses and accommodation as entitled to the Ministers. |
