Jammu, Nov 30 : Principal sessions judge, Bhaderwah, M K Sharma today awarded four and a half year imprisonment to a man for murdering his wife. Convict Pardeep Kumar was booked under section 304-II of RPC. According to the police case, Pardeep's father Ram Prasad called up victim Poonam Devi's father Mool Raj on January 7, 2013 at about 6 am and informed him that his daughter had consumed poison and asked him to reach Bhaderwah hospital. When Mool Raj reached the hospital, he came to know that his daughter had died. As he found some marks of violence on her neck and body, he lodged a written complainant with Bhaderwah police station for the commission of offences punishable under sections 498-A and 306 of RPC. The judge, after hearing both the sides, observed that there was sufficient material on the file to presume that the accused hade caused death of Poonam by hitting her in the abdomen with the knowledge that his act was likely to cause her death. "The accused is, therefore, proved to have committed offence punishable under section 304-II," he said. With these observations, the judge awarded rigorous imprisonment of four and a half years to the accused for the commission of offence under section 304-II of RPC. (JNF) |
