Transfers, departmental proposals, Assembly session on agenda | Cabinet meeting today | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 8: Even as the PDP-BJP government has not officially announced as yet the date for commencement of budget session, it is likely to begin from January 2, 2017. This will be one vital matter to be taken up in the agenda of cabinet meeting being held here tomorrow. Apart from it, transfers in administration and some key proposals from various departments would be taken up for approval of the cabinet tomorrow. After over a month of shifting of Darbar Move to winter capital PDP-BJP government led by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is holding its first cabinet meeting here tomorrow. Though it has been delayed this time, there is not much to discuss in the meeting tomorrow, sources said adding that posting of a couple of Deputy Commissioners and Secretary level officials may also get a nod. However, the government may decide about commencement of Assembly session in the meeting tomorrow as it has become constitutionally imperative to hold it as early as in first week of January 2017. Since the government convened the Assembly session very early in Srinagar this year in May, contrary to what has been the practice of convening autumn session in the summer capital, convening it by January 2 or 3 has become mandatory, said an official adding that either of two dates would be given nod tomorrow as per the convenience of the government. Sources also said both the Houses of Legislature, meanwhile have begun their preparations ahead of choosing the date and its formal announcement and summoning the same by the Governor. The legislators of both Assembly and Council have been asked to prepare starred and unstarred questions 10 each, tentatively besides resolutions as a first step towards the preparation, said the sources. In the cabinet meeting which has been scheduled at 4 pm in the Civil Secretariat tomorrow, while some transfers and postings are on agenda, some departmental proposals which have been pending for some time and awaiting a cabinet approval will get through tomorrow, the official further said.
