| MBRSS Poonch organizes training, distributes seed to tribal farmers | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Dec 8: MBRSS, Poonch a sub-station of SKUAST-Jammu organized one day training cum inputs distribution programme at station research farm.
The training cum distribution camp was conducted to train the farmers about seed production of wheat crop. On this occasion, Praveen Singh, Coordinator (TSP, Project) informed the farmers that this scheme was sponsored by DSR (ICAR), Mau for the benefit of tribal farmers of the district.
He elaborated about the Tribal Sub Plan under which the Central Government was providing various agriculture inputs for raising the livelihood of tribal and poor farmers and was implemented under the guidance of J P Sharma, Directorate, SKUAST, Jammu .
During the programme, 55 tribal farmers of Khanaiter and other villages of Poonch district were provided seed for sowing in total of 14 hecatres area.
Praveen Singh also informed the beneficiaries about the importance of seed and elaborated the seed production techniques in wheat crop to the farmers. Muneeshwar Sharma spoke on the management of various diseases of field and vegetable crops and stored pest management. A.K. Sharma, ADR advised the farmers to adopt improved agronomic practices for improving agricultural productivity of crops. The beneficiaries responded very well to the training cum distribution programme and thanked SKUAST-Jammu as well as scientists of MBRSS Poonch and KVK Poonch for doing service to the farmers. The programme ended with the vote of thanks presented by S. Swarnjeet Singh, FCLA. |
