| Trucker held with 5 kgs 'poppy straw' | | |

Jammu, Dec 8: In continuation to the operation 'Sanjeevani;, a special drive against drugs launched by SSP Jammu Sunil Gupta, today Narwal Police today arrested a truck driver and recovered five kgs poppy straw (bhukki) from his possession during a naka at Narwal Chowk. Police spokesman said that police team during nakka checking at Narwal Chowk intercepted one truck for checking and recovered five Kgs of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) from the truck.
Police have arrested the occupant of truck (driver) and seized the truck besides the consignment of contraband.
Police have registered a case at Bahu Fort police station under relevant section of law against the accused and further investigations are on to ascertain source and destination of this drug consignment. The operation was conducted by SI Waseem Mehraj, In-charge Police Post Narwal with the guidance of Inspector Bharat Sharma SHO Bahu Fort and under the supervision SDPO City East Chandan Kholi, SP City South, Shazad Ahmed Salaria. |
