| 59 WSS pipes stolen in Harooni; people block road, stage protest | | |  MS Nazki

Poonch, Dec 8: 59 pipes of PHE Department have been stolen by the people of Harroni Village Disrupting Harmutta Dumma Water supply scheme allegedly on the behest of NC MLA Mendhar Javed Rana, sources said here today.
Local alleged that Ex-Naib Sarpanch have been the instrumental to disrupt Harmutta Dumma water supply scheme which is in progress to provide drinking water to the remote areas of the tehsil by the PHE Department to the remote areas of the tehsil by the PHE Department on the behest of NC MLA Mendhar Javed Ahmed Rana. The Ex-Naib Sarpanch have stolen 59 pipes to be used in the Harmutta-Dumma WSS and stored them at his house.
Blocking Mendhar-Surankote road for nearly 7 hours today locals have been protesting against the MLA and the people of Harooni who for no reason want to disturb work on water supply scheme which will benefit the popular of remote areas. They also protested against the PHE authorities including PHE sub Division Mendhar and XEn Poonch for their lackadaisical approach to the matter. They also alleged that police inaction in theft of Govt pipes raises many eye brows and being mute spectator in the matter questions the working at SHO Gursai who other wise by now should have recovered the pipes from the Naib Sarpanch and booked him under the relevant laws.
Meanwhile officiating AE Abdul Majid is said to have given written complaint on behalf of PHE Department to SHO Gursai Mohd Amin urging registration of FIR in the theft case. The SHO confirmed that an application from the department has been received mentioning theft of 59 wair pipes of PHE Dpeartment this regard action is going to be initiated, SHO Gursai added.
It is pertinent to mention here that on the protest of locals policemen had gone to recover the stolen pipes from the ex Naib Sarpanch of Harooni Village but due to influence of NC MLA Mendhar Javed Rana, police team had to come back with bore hands, sources privy to matter revealed.
While talking to Early Times District Development Poonch MH Malik said that I have already directed XEn Poonch to lodge an FIR in theft of PHE pipes at Harooni Village and take stern action against the accused involved in the crime according to relevant law, the DDC added. |
