61 mobikes seized, over 200 vehicles challaned | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Dec 8: In a major crackdown on traffic rule violators, police have seized 61 motorcycles and challaned over two vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers. The mobikes were seized after their operators failed to produce registration certificates and other documents, police sources said. The drive was launched after the two recently held crime review meetings which were taken here by DGP K Rajendra and attended by officers of Rajouri-Poonch range. In both the meetings, it was decided to take stringent action against bovine smugglers, drug peddlers and traffic law violators, besides maintaining law and order and good public-police relations. During the drive against traffic violators, police laid nakas at Gujjar Mandi Chowk, Panja chowk, near New Bus Stand and Darhali bridge. 61 motorcycles were seized after their owners failed to produce the relevant documents. While 158 vehicles were challaned under violation of various sections of Motor Vehicle Act, 49 two-wheelers were challaned for triple riding and driving without helmets. All the seized two-wheelers were kept at Rajouri police station. The Rajouri people have hailed the police crackdown on the traffic violators in the town. |
