Farmers-scientists interaction held at Kotla | | | Early Times Report
REASI, Mar 11: Department of Agriculture & Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu(SKUAST-J) organized a day long farmers-scientists interaction under Agriculture Technology Management Agency(ATMA) scheme here at Kotla village in Painthal block of Reasi district. Large number of farmers from the nearby villages of Painthal block enthusiastically participated in the programme. The programme was co-ordinated by Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi and Omkar Singh. Romesh Kumar Khosa, Deputy Director, ATMA, Reasi inaugurated the programme with the warm welcome of the farmers and scientist. In the inaugural session he said that collaboration of KVK and ATMA acts as a bridge between the farmers and the scientists. He suggested the farmers that they should divert themselves from the subsistence agriculture to commercial agriculture. He said that farmers should take the opportunities to become the agri-entrepreneurs and by doing so they can enhance their income and employment. Dr Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi interacted with the farmers and replied their quarries during the interactive session. Ajeet Kumar, Agriculture Extension Officer, Reasi highlighted various state and central agricultural schemes implemented in the district and urged farmers to take benefits from these schemes. Vikas Sharma, Jr. Agriculture Extension Officer guided the farmers on the scientific cultivation of Rabi crops and emphasized on the seed treatment in Rabi crops. |
