| KPS celebrates Zangtrai | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 20: A function was organized by Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) on Zangtrai, the Tritiym Tithi of Navratra - Maa Chanderghanta day. This day was observed in Kashmir since ancient times as a mark of respect for women hood, who are embodiment of Devi Maa. This day is now celebrated also as women-empowerment day by community.
While welcoming and comparing the programme Dr. Sujata ji spoke about the importance of today's event and exhorted fellow sisters to rise against the evils in society especially orthodoxy and superfluous rituals binding women. Women should rise above self & change society for good.
President K. K. Khosa while welcoming the Matershakti wished for their greater role in transforming community into a model society. He stressed about preservation of mother tongue especially its use at home by the society. He also referred about marriages being conducted by youth outside community.
Chief Guest Prof. Veena Pandita wished for greater participation of women in social uplitment beyond their own families also especially for have not's in the community. She also gave a beautiful description about the significance of the auspicious day. |
