For separatist handlers, hawk becomes useless | | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 20: Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is on his last legs, has resigned to his fate by nominating Ashraf Sehrai as the chairman of the pro-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Hurriyat. Sources told Early Times that Geelani was under pressure from within to handover the reins of his party to someone else. "People sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) are keen to have a new set of stooges at place so that they can carry forward their divisive agenda," they added. An insider said that the bosses of separatists sitting across the LoC are of the opinion that Hurriyat hawk has become old and he is of no use to them. "The people within the Geelani's party had told their bosses that old man could enter into a compromise with the Government of India to seek the release of his close aides, including his son-in-law, from the custody of National Investigating Agency," he added. Sources said that recently the so-called chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement and militant turned separatist Zaffar Akbar Bhat visited Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir. "He stayed there for 20-days and reportedly met everyone there." They said as the second rung separatists have been booked by the NIA and are under detention at Tihar Jail in New Delhi, the separatist handlers sitting in PoK want others to replace them so that they could orchestrate stone-pelting and street protests across the Valley. "Besides Zaffar Akbar Bhat, separatist handlers are looking for others who can prove handy for them," sources added. They said that there are allegations against the few family members of Geelani that they were close to the legislators of the ruling party in Kashmir and they got many of their jobs done through them. "J&K government appointing Geelani's kin in Tourism department during 2016 unrest in Kashmir had triggered an uproar against the Hurriyat hawk. Geelani tried to distance himself from the controversy but it couldn't help his cause," sources added. They said the hawk joining hands with Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and so-called JKLF chief Yasin Malik also went against him. "Many of the Pakistan agents who are part of Geelani's party were unhappy with the hawk and had even complained to their bosses. The so called Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik has been hijacked by Yasin Malik and he has turned Hurriyat hawk and dove irrelevant," sources added. |
