Jammu, Mar 20: The 32 day ongoing agitation in Nowshera for district status due to BJP's failure to meet public demand, has almost spoiled ongoing development works in Sunderbani, Nowshera and Kalakote that too at the end of financial year. Government and Private establishments in Sub district Nowshera have been shut down due to ongoing agitation, as the agitators forced government officials not to open their respective offices. "The Division headquarters PWD, R&B, PHE, Flood Control and Irrigation are stationed in Nowshera town, all the developmental works being executed by theses divisions in Nowshera, Kalakote and Sunderbani sub districts, but due to the ongoing agitation most of the works have come to halt", sources told Early Times and added that criminal salience on the part of BJP, as both the constituencies Nowshera-Sunderbani and Kalakote are represented by BJP in State Assembly. It is ridiculous and contrary to claims of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's slogan of Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, said a senior contractor, who have started construction of several roads in three sub-districts of Rajouri District. "It was expected that today's Cabinet Meeting will give logical call to the ongoing agitations in all three sub-divisions", he said and added that Kalakote has recently suffered major discrimination. "Earlier, distance between Kalakote and district headquarter, Rajouri was 37 killometers, but recent development, in which government has given an ADC to Kalakote-Kotranka, the distance has reached 87 killometers which was not acceptable for over 1 lakh voters and 2.5 lakh population of in 72 panchayats. "Ironically, Sunderbani-Nowshera constituency, with 68 Panchayats have given a separate ADC by the State Government, but Kalakote being represented by sitting MLA who is also a sitting Minister in state cabinet did surrendered like his party before PDP", alleged members of Joint Action Committee for district for Kalakote. The locals are critical of the failure of BJP legislators who, according to them, have failed the people on all fronts. They said that the Expenditure Reforms a Kashmir centric order of state government had already derailed the development of Jammu division, and the ongoing agitation in absence of 'visible' government has hit last nail in coffin underprivileged Jammu division. |
