Jammu, Mar 20: A gala function was organized at K. P Sabha premises on Zangtrai, the Tritiym Tithi of Navratra Maa Chanderghanta day.
This day was observed in Kashmir since ancient times as a mark of respect for women hood, who are embodiment of Devi Maa. This day is now celebrated also as women-empowerment day by community. The function was- presided over by K K Khosa President K.P Sabha and Prof. Veena Pandita, Chairperson, J & K State Board of School Education was the Chief Guest.
The function started with the hymns of Ganesh Stub and Goddess Durga and lighting of lamp by Chief Guest, Khosa, Dr. Sujata Sathoo, Shama and Dr. Usha Tickoo. Shanti Lal Sidha, noted Bhajan singer and his team, presented melodious Bhajan Mala and devotional songs in the praise of mother goddess. While welcoming and comparing the programme Dr. Sujata spoke about the importance of today's event and exhorted fellow sisters to rise against the evils in society especially orthodoxy and superfluous rituals binding women. |
