JAMMU, Mar 20: Akhnoor police today claimed to have arrested a man who allegedly raped a mentally disturbed girl within 24 hours.
A police spokesman said that on march 19, one person lodged a written report at Akhnoor police station that on March 18 at 04:30 pm, his daughter who is mentally disturbed had gone the outside along with her minor brother.
In the meantime Shallu of Badgal Tehsil Akhnoor came there and after wrongfully restraining them and committed rape with her forcibly. Acting on the complaint, a case under FIR No. 55/2018 under sections 376/341/323 RPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation of the case was entrusted to SI Sandeep Singh of Akhnoor police station.
"Keeping in view the gravity of the case, Akhnoor Police swung into action and constituted some teams. They conducted raids at suspected places for apprehension of the accused", said police spokesman adding that with the strenuous efforts and timely action by the Police, the accused was arrested within 24 hours of the commission of the offence.
The arrest was made by SI Sandeep Singh under the guidance of Inspector Shivdev Singh, SHO Akhnoor and close supervision of Munish Kumar, SDPO Akhnoor and Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, SP Rural, Jammu. |
