Vyas at Civil Secretariat today and submitted a memorandum regarding strengthening of research stations and sanction of much required additional faculties of SKUAST-Jammu. President SKUAST-TAJ Dr. Vikas Sharma informed the CS that Research Centers / Centers of Excellence are the backbone of any professional varsity like SKUAST-Jammu and these advance centers of research should not be disturbed at any cost for the establishment of new university. He said that State Government's proposal for establishment of more universities in the J&K State is a good idea, but it should not be at the cost of existing universities. "SKUAST - Jammu is working in its infancy stage and flourishing day by day and there is no need to disturb the status of this only established farm varsity of Jammu Division," said TAJ President. Dr. Vikas Sharma further informed the CS that the issue for sanction of new faculties (Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Horticulture and Faculty of Dairy Technology) was deliberated for the first time in the 4th Academic Council of SKUAST-J in May 2005 and after the approval of Board of Management (BOM) same year in August 2005, it was formally submitted to APD, Govt. of J&K and since then formal proposal has been hanging in fire and is still awaiting nod of the Agriculture Production and Planning Department notwithstanding the detailed and point-wise justification of the proposal as well as reply to all the queries. |
