Home Ministry directs J&K Police to catch Sehrai's son alive | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 25: The home ministry has directed the Jammu & Kashmir Police and security agencies to catch alive Junaid Ashraf Khan, son of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai. Sehrai has replaced Syed Ali Shah Geelani as the chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat last week. The state police has called the Junaid joining the 'terrorist' ranks unfortunate with DGP Vaid urging the Hurriyat leader to appeal to his son to given up the gun. "The home ministry has taken serious note of the development. It has directed the state police especially to make out all efforts that Junaid is contacted and counseled to drop the gun. It has been directed that all efforts should be made to catch him alive," said a top official. The sources said the issue was discussed in detail in a meeting of the home ministry held in New Delhi on Saturday. The meeting discussed the security situation in the valley especially with the coming of the summer. "Killing of Junaid could give huge boost to terrorism. It will make both Junaid and his father Sehrai a hero and it's one thing which if it happens could undo major ground work we have done to dissuade the youth from joining terrorism and put the separatists on the dock," said the official. The official said the chiefs of the different intelligent agencies have been given terse brief that they should activate their sources to nab him at the earliest and get in touch with him as soon as possible before he crosses the border. "We know for certain that the conduits of the Pakistan have been involved in brain washing this youth to pick up gun. He is very important to them and they could use him to fuel terrorism in the valley and made separatists dance to its tune more. We have geared up all are sources to ensure that the sinister designs of the Pakistan are exposed and Sehrai doesn't scales up more," said the sources. |
