| Youth for society hold cleanliness drive in river Basanter | | | Early Times Report
SAMBA, Mar 25: Youth For Society a Social Group held a cleanness drive at River Basantar here today.
According to report, hundreds of members of Youth for Society participated in the drive. Since a long time it was sore in the heart of Samba people that river Basanter which is a sacred river and life line of Samba was dying a slow death due to accumulation of the garbage and litter both from the factories and inadvertently by the people themselves.
It was their demand that it should cleaned; so on holy Ram Navmi the Cadre of Youth for society took the oath to clean it.
The starting point was the pavement of Basanter bridge where inadvertently Samba people threw lot of litter in the shape of Pooja Smart. Youth For Society Cadre cleared near about a trolley of garbage in the former of unused clothes Pooja clothes other household litter. It nearly took about 3 hours to clear the pavement. Non-biodegradable wastage collected and dumped at during site of Municipal committee & biodegradable wastage burned.
In this context, Youth for Society chair Rahul Sambyal said all can now cleared in a day & this Cleanliness Drive will now be a regular part of the programs of Youth for society. He said river Basanter is the lifeline of Samba & have a sacred role in it.
He urged the administration to provide them sources so they can clean that filth which cannot clear by hands. He also urged the administration to stop the habit of throwing poisonous waste by the factories in the river.
