Sale of Combat dresses banned in Ganderbal | Youth labeled as militant turns out to be civilian | | Mohammad Sarfaraz Early Times Report GANDERBAL, Mar 28: On the directions of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, District Magistrate Ganderbal, Dr Piyush Singla imposed a complete ban on the sale of combat dresses and uniforms of Indian security forces in order to avoid misuse of army uniforms by militants in Ganderbal District. The order issuing the ban instructed that all authorized private firms and shops procuring, storing and selling combat clothes shall immediately inform in writing to the nearest police station regarding their authority to carry on with this business within a period of fifteen days, failing which action under law/rules will be initiated against them, said sources. Sources quoting the top police official as having said that, "It shall be mandatory for all the authorized firms and shops dealing in such articles to maintain registers giving details of the items received with quantity, date of sale, items sold, quantity of the terms sold and the address and identity of the party to whom sold. Sources told early times that the law enforcing agencies have given a clear cut directions for selling of uniforms in which the firms have been directed that if anybody approaches them for the uniform, the firms have to check their identity cards and also note down the names and the unit number of the latter on the register mentioned above. These firms should not take the directions for granted, as an officer of the police of the rank of ASI or above shall have the authority to check and inspect such registers on routine basis as well as for the purpose of investigations, said sources. Meanwhile a police handout said that a photograph of a shopkeeper from Ganderbal was circulated today on social media platforms with the intent to cause fear and alarm to the public describing him as a new militant recruit. On verification, it turned out to be a mischief. Police on verification found that the said person is a respectable citizen and is running a shop in Beehama area of Ganderbal. The family of the said person was in stress after this fake news appeared on social media, said press release. The family has been assured of assistance by local police and in this matter a case FIR No. 46/2018 under section 505, 153 RPC has been registered. |
