SHO Khour slammed for unequal treatment to citizens | Police-Public meet | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 28: Many netizens on Wednesday slammed Station House Officer (SHO) Khour for what they termed as unequal treatment to common public during a police-public meet. Photographs as well as press release of police-public meet organized by SHO Khour, Jeet Singh were uploaded on a page of SSP office Jammu in which youth was seen sitting on ground while a chair was placed there for the SHO. In a press release shared on Facebook, the SSP office said: "To strengthen the police-public relations and to bring people closer to the police for better output in preventions, detection of crime and to solve the problems of general public, today a PCPG meeting was held by SHO P/S Khour SI Jeet Singh in the premises of P/S Khour. Approximately 70-75 youths of the area participated…better cooperation from police. Dated:27-03-18". Though some of the Facebook users including Pardeep Singh, Sham Oberoi, Keshav Chopra beside others appreciated the efforts of police, many others pointed out towards the treatment given to the youth. A Facebook user Ravinder Sharma wrote, "Atleast there must be a mat on the ground. There should be proper sitting arrangements". Another Facebook user Nitin Bakshi wrote, "Very shameful act on the part of police and…..". RTI activist Raman Sharma took the matter to Twitter and tagged @ Mehbooba Mufti, @JKgrievance, @DeputyCmjk, @spvaid @igpjmu, @ZPHQJammu and tweeted: "This pic is of a public meeting by SHO Khour, One chair for SHO only. Respected Citizens made to sit on ground even without a Darri. Hope next time citizens are given due respect. Police officers are not kings." Taking to Early Times Raman Sharma said, "We have left monarchy decades back and believe in democracy. According to basic principles of democracy citizens are the real masters and police officers whether IPS, KPS all are not kings but public servants". Sharma said, "The citizens are real masters and they must be respectfully treated. If the SHO hadn't enough chairs for youth, then he should have also sat on ground with youth. It seems that police had brought youth to police station by intimidation, which is totally unjust". Surprisingly, after eight hours of uploading of the status and picture, the SSP office deleted the status and picture from the Facebook page, probably after criticism. |
