Scams, wrong doings galore in Health Deptt | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad
Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 28: There seems no end of wrong doings and scams in Health Department in Jammu and Kashmir as several such frauds surfaced in the last few months. In the last few months, several scams surfaced in the Health Department. The fresh one was that the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has itself violated the norms by posting the doctors in the hospitals for over two years or more. A revelation has come to fore through the RTI, wherein the applicant had sought details about the total number of doctors posted at five hospitals in the Valley along with their names and joining dates. The applicant, DR Riyaz Ahmad Dagga had filed an RTI has alleged that the information given by the department is wrong and misleading. Dagga said blue-eyed doctors are given plum posting and some are even paying money to the director office to avoid the transfer and those doctors who raise their voices against such issue are being harassed by the department. The RTI reveals that the joining date of one Medical superintendent in Police Control Room (PCR) hospital is 08-09-2016. Dagga, however, alleges that the said doctor is at police hospital for more than a decade now. More ever RTI reveals that there are few doctors that are working in PCR hospital for more than 10 years now. Similarly, recently a scam surfaced that embezzlement of funds by withdrawing salaries of the employees posted at Block Medical Office in central Kashmir's Budgam. Subsequently, the Director Health Services Kashmir attached BMO vide order no. 219/ Gaz of 2018, dated 19-03-2018. "Pending final outcome of enquiry into the embezzlement made in Block Budgam, in-charge BMO is hereby attached to Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) with immediate effect till further orders," reads the order. It has been reported that more than Rs 50 lakhs (meant for the salary of the employees) were withdrawn from the state exchequer but the amount was not credited to their accounts. The staff is without salary for the past two months as officials have embezzled the amount. Another scandal has surfaced in north Kashmir Bandipora as 129 GP Fund accounts of Health Department employees have been found fake. An investigation by the Department of Finance has found 129 General provision Fund accounts fictitious which apparently looks like fake recruitment scandal run by some officials of health department. |
