3/28/2018 10:46:16 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 28: Rumours are rife that State Government has planned to end Nowshera stalemate by declaring ADDC post for Nowshera.
Indefinite strike by the residents of Nowshera sub division for the district status with HQs at Nowshera , has entered 41st day today.
A large protest rally, being lead by women, was taken out today by the people of the town and adjoining areas and after passing through various bazaars it culminated at Patel Chowk where the protesters were addressed by the members of JAC and prominent citizens and 'Beopar Mandal' members.
All the shops, business establishments including banks /ATMs remained closed and people raised slogans in favour of their demand and against the state coalition government.
On the request of district administration , as the financial years will close on March 30, JAC allowed the government office to continue functioning so that the people may not suffer any more as the business community has been experiencing loss of Rs 1 crore daily.
Rajouri has become the only district in the state to have five posts of Additional DCs at Kalakot, Nowshera, Sunderbani, Kotranka and at Rajouri HQs.
People of Nowshera have been demanding separate district and till the government take any decision in this matter, are demanding post of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), creation of police lines (already sanctioned) with SP post.
They claimed the sub division has already infrastructure with the offices of Executive Engineers PHE, PDD and I&FC, Additional SP (ASP), Forest division etc.
"Our only demand is posts of ADDC and creation of police lines till the district was not declared. The people have decided to continue their peaceful struggle and complete shutdown till then" said Subhash Kapoor, president Beopar Mandal and JAC.
Unconfirmed sources said, MLA Nowshera, Ravinder Raina had interaction with protesting youth leaders but failed to convince them who pledged to continue their fight in favour of their demands.
Meanwhile members of JAC,Kalakot headed by Randhir Singh and president Beopar Mandal, Vipin Suri have warned for another round of protests if ADC , Kalakot will be brought under the administrative powers of reported proposed ADDC post for Nowshera.
"We would prefer to associated with DDC, Rajouri rather than going under the control of proposed ADDC, Nowshera and any such move will be opposed strongly" said both the leaders.
