| Health Deptt overlooks Block Assar | | 13 posts sanctioned, not a single doctor posted | | Bijay Charak

Jammu, Apr 16: In what could be termed as deliberate neglect of block Assar of district Doda by Minister for Health, against 13 posts sanctioned in the block, no doctor was posted in entire block for the last few years.
Nadeem Hussain, a resident of block Assar informed Early Times that the patient care has affected adversely due to absence of doctor in entire block. All health institutions of block are run by paramedical staff.
However, government might have been boasting of improving and providing best health care facilities to all, but block Assar of district Doda is exposing all claims.
"Government had sanctioned four Primary Health Centres (PHC) of which two were upgraded couple of years back and had 10 sanctioned posts of Medical Officers and three posts of Dental surgeon but till date the department concerned has posted a Dental Surgeon at PHC Ghoa, while in rest of health institutions posts are lying vacant for the last few years", Nadeem said.
Castigating Health Minister another resident of block Assar said, "Many times people of block Assar met legislator concerned regarding vacant posts of doctors in block; the legislator assured us, he had taken the matter with Health Minister but nothing has been done at ground so far. "We don't have money to visit several health care institutions. If government is not providing facilities, then such health institutions should be closed", he said.
The Primary Health Centre Ghoa and Assar have been catering more than 25 thousand souls each, spread across length and breadth of mighty mountains.
Director Health Services Jammu and Chief Medical Officer Doda were not available for comments. |
