Jammu, Apr 16: Countdown of acting Vice Chancellor University of Jammu has begun, as the University issued notification for the appointment of his successor.
Formal notification was prepared on April 12, and appeared in news papers on Monday; sources said and added that it ends hopes of incumbent to extend his job for few more days. "All is not well between University Jammu and Raj Bhawan, as tailoring the rules, facility other than the registrar has been made member secretary for appointment of new VC", sources said and added that in past practice and University's statutes, the Registrar of University acted as member secretary of the selection committee.
"The process for appointment of new VC got delayed as this time new system has been introduced, it took time to create a new post-office for the purpose", insider said and added that Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Director, the Law School University of Jammu has been appointed as Member Secretary. Appointment will be made from a panel of names recommended by the Search Committee constituted under the provisions of the "Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969", Advertisement No. Appointment-VC/JU/18/01, dated 12/4/2018 read.
