Jammu, Apr 16: The trial in the Kathua abduction, rape and murder case of an eight-year-old girl child, which has evoked sharp responses from across the country after chilling details of the crime were revealed in a police charge sheet last week, began on Monday. As per reports, eight accused in the case have been arrested for allegedly abducting the child, holding her in captivity, keeping her sedated and raping her for a week in a small village temple before bludgeoning her to death. Among the accused is a juvenile against whom a separate charge sheet has been filed. While a sessions court will hold a fast-track trial for the seven adult accused, the chief judicial magistrate of Kathua will take the process ahead for the juvenile as it is the designated court under the juvenile act. |
