Inclusion of Labana community into list of OBCs hailed

Jammu, April 30: All J&K Labana Sabha in a Meeting held under the president-ship of S. Lakhbir Singh Sohal Ex. Chief Engineer and Sr. Poltical & Social Activist hailed the historic cabinet decision of Union Govt headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's for including Labana community of Jammu & Kashmir state in Central List of Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
In a resolution all members expressed their gratitude to the PM Modi government and all Administration and legislatures of state govt. for recommending the case of Labana Community of J&K State to the National Commission of Backward Classes who further recommended and Central Govt considered and accepted and decided to notify inclusion in the Central list of OBC.
The president S. Lakhbir Singh said no doubt decision came too late after seven decades but still it came as dream came true, the justice delayed but finaly done. We appreciate and convey our thanks to Modi ji Govt. for this historic decision. He further said that These changes in the central list will enable the persons belonging to Labana community to avail the benefits of 27% reservation in central government services and posts as well as in central educational institutions as per the existing policy.
They will also become eligible for benefit under various welfare schemes, scholarships, etc., being administered by the central government, which are at present available to persons belonging to Other Backward Classes, it added.
He said that state govt. shall also take lead in enhancement of reservation from 2% now to 27% in state. He appealed to state govt. for notifying the new SRO for issuing the OBC certificates to Labana community.
Due to non representation in council of ministers no development works are being executed in the areas of Dalit, OBCs and minorities pockets, all members of Sabha and other OBC communities and minorities expressed their no faith in present govt headed by Mehbooba Mufti and demanded Governor rule in the state..
