Sikhs feel let down after being denied berth in state cabinet | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 30: A joint meeting of different Sikh Organizations including Kashmir Sikh Sangat, Sikh Naujawan Sabha's and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) was held under the Chairmanship of Jathedar Mohinder Singh President SAD (Badal) wherein the participants highly resented the non-inclusion of Sikh representative in the State Cabinet. The participants said that objective of BJP has been defeated as no representation has been given to Sikhs of the state. This has been done despite wide spread demand of community from almost every nook & corner of state wherever Sikhs are having their habitation and are feeling dejected in this democratic set up. This was for the first time that the demand for inclusion of one Sikh representative in the cabinet was raised by all the sections of society and almost from every region of the state. Sikh Community for the first time seems to have become totally unrepresented in the state cabinet. Sikh community in the state had voted for BJP en-masse for change for better governance, clean, effective and pro people oriented government. Due to these factors BJP got the historic victory in Jammu region by clinching maximum assembly seats and both Parliamentary seats, the Sikh leaders observed. "People in general and Sikh community in particular totally feels let down and dejected from the party & their actions contrary to what they say and preach. Time has come that community should rethink & revisit to its policies to give a befitting reply to the most unreliable party and show them their actual place in the ensuing elections community feels aggrieved that all other communities and different sections with in Hindu community have been given the representation and Sikh minority has been ignored," said the Sikh leaders. This party has totally ignored our community in rehabilitation of POJK 1947 DP's, non-inclusion in the PM's employment package for non-migrants Kashmiri Pandits, non-inclusion of POJK 1947 DP's in Pahari speaking reservation bill, non-implementation of Anand marriage Act passed way back in 1954, not providing due share of privileges to minorities as eligible under Minority Act. We have now decided to work for our right and reject the present dispensation Those who attended the meeting among others H.S Raina, S. Suchwant Singh, Surinder Singh, Manjit Singh, Harmeet Singh, Babau Singh, Roshan Singh and others. |
