| 87-year old Udhampur woman takes lead | | Constructs toilet in village | |  Arun Jasrotia

Udhampur, May 3: A 87-year-old woman Rakki wife of Bashir Ahamed from Badali village of District Udhampur has become a role model for the whole country . Concerned about the health and well being of the village, she started work on a toilet near her house in a bid to make her village open-defecation free.
Rakki inspired by the District Administration Udhampur ODF mission decided to construct her own toilet. She is very poor and does not have money gor the toilet. She is doing the masonry work herself and had become a role model of said Village. While Talking to Early times Rakki disclosed that from a decade we had been defecating in open without knowing its ill effects.
She was encouraged by District Administration Team making poeople aware about the Swach Bharat Mission and ill effects of open defecation. She cut his green crop from her farm and started the work of toilet . She said the toilet will be for all. Deputy Commissioner Udhampur said that this is the time that people change their traditional Mindset."I salute the woman and every one should get a lesson from her. We will provide every possible hep her, " he said. |
