Various Sikh organizations criticize renaming of college in Delhi | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 3: Various Sikh organizations have criticized the action of management of Sardar Dayal Singh Mejathia college to change its name to Vande Matram Dayal Singh Mejathia College. According to press release, a meeting of various Sikh organizations was held at the head office of Shormani Akali Dal (Badal) under the chairmanship of Jethadar Mohinder Singh Party President. Castigating the decision they said that the great personality who has established various educational institutions more than 100 years back was a great visionary and patriotic. This matter was raised earlier and human resource development (HRD) Minister Parkash Javedekar had given the assurance that the name of the college will not be change and VC Delhi University has accordingly been conveyed. But now the chairman of the college namely Amit Sinha and V.C Delhi University Yougesh Tayagi under a planned conspiracy had changed the name of college to Vende matram Dayal Singh Mejathia College. "This action has hurted the sentiments of Sikh minorities community. It is straight way an interference in the smooth functioning of educational intuition. This action is anti social and is hells went upon to disturb the peace and tranquilly. This type of action at the hands of present dispensation indicates that the minority institution as well as minorities cannot breathe freely although constitution provides an equal rights to every citizen of India to propagate, preach, practice and live freely following his religious ethics", they said. The prominent person who attended the meeting include Surinder Singh Advocate, H.S Raina, Suchwant Singh, S.S wazir, Manjeet Singh, Sewa Singh, President Kss, Roshan Singh, Babu Singh and others. |
