Govt apathy forces villagers to repair road themselves | | | Arun Jasrotia Early Times Report Udhampur, May 9 :- Anguished over the apathy and neglect of the PMGSY department, the residents of the five villages have taken up the repair work of the only road that provided them connectivity with Udhampur town and was blocked due to landslides. Sources informed that the eight kilometers stretch of the road connecting Panchari to Janori in Udhampur district was blocked as heavy bolders had rolled down on the road following rains and landslides, but despite despite repeated pleas to the concerned department, no heed was being paid to the plight of the villagers of villages falling on both sides of the road. "The villagers decides to take up the work on to themselves and restore the traffic on the road that was blocked for weeks" informed Laxman Dass Sarpanch Lower Meer area of district Udhampur. "Our people had been suffering and the department and the local administration were not paying heed to our plight and we had to take up the responsibility on to ourselves" he added. |
