Two days after a youth from Chennai, who was in his early 20s, was killed in a stone pelting incident Narbal Republic TV spoke to two judges from Karnataka. The judges said that they came under the attack while they were travelling in Narbal in Budgan towards Gulmarg on May 7 and again on May 8 near Bijbehara when they were heading towards Pahalgam. Bharathi BS, Hon'ble District Judge, Family Court and KG Chinta, Hon'ble Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bangalore while talking to Republic TV said that they escaped unhurt in the attack near Narbal due to the smartness of the driver. The Judge Bharathi BS said that she was traveling with her husband, daughter and her 85-year-old father who is also a retired judge. "As soon as the driver spotted the stone pelters he drove the car very fast and all the windows of the cab were pulled up. Nothing happened to anybody," she said. "We had a close shave." The Judges expressed sadness at the killing of Thirumani and asked Jammu-Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to curb stone pelting incidents as they could impact tourism in the state. They said that police may not be able to provide escort to all tourists because of several reasons, hence Kashmiris would have to understand that Kashmir is dependent on tourism and they need to protect the tourists. |
