VLWs/MPWs damand revision in initial pay grade
6/3/2018 10:14:11 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 13: The All J&K Village Levels Workers (VLWs)/ Multipurpose Workers' (MPWs) of Department of Rural Development today demanded highlighted its long pending demands including removal in pay anomaly in a meeting held here.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Rajesh Dutta and attended by members of the organization recruited after 2007 in the department from all the 10 districts of Jammu province.
In the meeting, Leaders of the Union discussed various issues pertaining to the cadre including enhancement of initial Grade Pay, creation of Posts of Inspector Panchayat and Senior Assistant in newly created 177 CD Blocks, filling of vacant posts of Secretary Panchayats across the State, Clubbing nomenclature of posts of VLWs/MPWs, fully implementation of SRO 178, and Field Travelling Allowance ( FTA) from Rs 15 to Rs 3000.
While addressing the gathering, Mr Dutta expressed resentment in painful manner that initial Grade Pay of VLWs/MPWs is Rs. 1900, whereas, there are number of posts with basic qualification Matric and 12th, have placed in the pay scale of 4000-6000 (Pre-Revised) like Stock Assistant in Sheep Husbandry Department, Teacher in Education Department and Patwaris in Revenue Department, etc.
He appealed to the Pay Committee as constituted by the Government to re-fix the Grade Pay of VLWs/MPWs/Gram Sevikas at the tune of Rs. 2400 Grade Pay of under-Graduate and for Graduate it should be 2800 (Grade Pay) , as in case of teachers' post in our State.
The testimony of this fact is that numbers of newly recruited VLWs/MPWs through JKSSB prefer to join other departments owing abysmal grade pay, he further expressed.
The Union leaders also demanded for filling up of posts' of Departmental BDOs and filling up of 50 per cent quota of Departmental feeding cadre besides fully implementation of SRO 311 with supporting staff for smooth functioning of the Department.
They appealed the Hon'ble Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Abdul Rehman Veeri and Secretary RDD Sheetal Nanda to look into matter and take personal interest for its early redressal.
Among those who attended the meeting included Jagpal Panoch and Preeti Kohli (Jammu), Yassir Ahmed (Kishtwar), Irshad Ahmed (Doda), Ramanjeet and Ravi Kumar (Udhampur), Ajay Sharma, Vinod Kumar and Sushil Atri (Rajouri), Ashutosh Dutta (Poonch), Sher Singh (Reasi), Raj Kishore Singh (Kathua) and others.
