Let us think of 'Test Tube Politicians'
6/3/2018 10:18:26 PM
Jamwal Mahadeep Singh

It is never possible that all natural born human beings should possess all qualities that a common man likes to see in his representative. The world history is blank regarding such personalities accepted by one and all without any commentary. We had arrived at a stage of similar situation, where there is drought in fertility of real politicians in India. The political sketch of the country is painted with, corrupt, criminals, murders, rapists, looters, illiterate, inefficient, liars, power lust, stooges like colors. Those claim them to be very honest are accommodating bad element in their fold. This is a fact that we cannot achieve success just by having brain. But we can achieve so by intelligently using it. This is the link that we come across missing in many politicians. Everyone in the society is fed up with rusted lot and wants to get rid of these wicked people but our irony is that who so ever is trusted of his big claims of providing neat and clean government, ultimately land in the same quagmire. So what remedy is left with common man? Nothing as we are not so educated as to make difference between donkey and horse. Our vision level is not as high as to visualize the real intentions of these hawks, when they appear on voter's door begging for vote with much clapped hands or make mockery of common man by their fake commitments, hollow slogans in big rallies during elections. Come what may, we have advanced much in scientific inventions and are now blessed with a technique to get babies having genes of our choice. The scientific revolution has solved number of problems faced by people from time to time. A Los Angeles clinic is offering the ultimate in designer babies. Want a son with brown eyes, black hair and a dark complexion or a pale-skinned, blonde, green-eyed daughter? The Fertility Institutes clinic has just started offering prospective parents the opportunity to select physical traits of future offspring thanks to "cosmetic medicine". Like the 'test tube babies' born of in vitro fertilization cloned children need not be identifiable, much less freaks or outcast. One have the wonders created by scientist Robert Edwards (conferred Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for developing the IVF treatment) and gynecologist Patrick Steptoe in 1978, when the first test tube baby, Louise Brown was born in England thus overcoming the infertility problems. In the back drop of this creation of test tube baby culture, it is time to move forward in this research and to look for the Test Tube Politicians by inseminating genes of required standard for a product that will stand to the required standards of the politics. Question arises as anyone had devised a way to create a genetically engineered baby? Yes we have George Church of Harvard Medical School campus, who says that his laboratory is the center of a new technological genesis-one in which man rebuilds creation to suit him. Luhan Yang, a Harvard recruits from Beijing; a young postdoctoral scientist is a key player in developing a powerful new technology for editing DNA. Harvard laboratory had a project under way to determine how it could be achieved. So why not design a highly intelligent group of people as 'Test Tube Politicians' on the analogy of 'Test Tube Babies' culture, who could be tomorrow's leaders in real sense. s. The governments instituted are the elected representatives, who are also known as the politicians. These politicians are required to implement social reforms and policy measures that contribute to the general welfare of the populace. Promising politician's qualities are often backed by skills, experiences, intelligence, and integrity. A good and responsible politician will give high regard for morality, law abiding with no tendencies to corrupt even a single percent. They represent the hopes, aspirations and the interests of every citizen in the state. Since politicians play very significant roles in the administrative processes, especially having hands in thousands of important laws and policies to their communities and country, thereby they should be well-educated, modest, with experience in social welfare, volunteering or should have done some good work for the society. According to Theodore Roosevelt, "the most successful politician is he who says what the people are thinking most often in the loudest voice". A person or politician who is with criminal background, or any links with criminals or whose allegation on corruption has not been cleared by the Law Court should be disqualified to participate in elections. A transparent politician is nearer to his people and meeting them to understand their problems. Good politicians show respect to the views and experience of others. Nobody has a monopoly of wisdom. It is a bad politician that will see that all the good is in his side and that all the bad lies with his opponent. Only fake politicians are seen by voters when an election is near or change parties as footballers change clubs. The recapitulated qualities expected in politicians, when put to the reality test with regard to the politicians of India irrespective of party affiliation right from 1947 till date, we come up with a dirty picture, painted by scams, corruption, favoritism, criminality, exploitations, dynastic rule, self promoting, lust for power, ignoring the balloters after being mandated to power, creating ditches between communities on caste and religion for vote bank, fake commitments and what not. When we speak of politician's quality as well educated, it is a laughable reality that majority of our politicians had been illiterate in the past and are ruling the roost in the present Lok Sabha also. We are bound to raise the finger against those responsible for our Constitution in neglecting the most required provision of at least basic qualification for a politician, who as representative of people have to hand down thousands of important laws and policies to their communities and country. Similarly on criminal front the architects of Constitution have shown much disregard to the law abiding society by stipulating no provision to debar those from contesting elections involved in criminal cases and as a result we have experienced such criminals making law for law abiding citizens from day one till date and at present people with cases of rape, murder, dacoits, kidnapping, loot, corruption and what not are enjoying constitutional immunities and hovering over the citizens as ministers of the government well protected by security categories on the tax payers money. The role of those shielding such tainted fraternity is also under cloud and they have no right to claim themselves as neat and clean as it is because of them such criminals are occupying treasury benches. When we refer that a transparent politician is nearer to his people and meeting them to understand their problems, it is a day dream for common man to see his representative for any sort of solace as he is well guarded by a contingent of security forces and in this way this fraternity becomes a recipe for his few stooges and a criminal becomes overnight a 'Honorable' subject. This is how our great Constitution mandates.
Before downing the curtain I like to say that my intentions here are not to malign or degrade the representatives or someone but to point out the grey area where a much talked honest, intelligent, visionary, dynamic leader should pay attention for bringing reforms so that tainted and un-educated should not have escape channel to reach Parliament or Assemblies. We are also eagerly looking forward and our hopes are pinned upon the scientists to make available the techniques accessible in a very affordable manner in every medical college of the country to have real politicians in meaning by producing such stuff through available technology of test tube babies, segregating the genes of scams, corruption, favoritism, criminality, exploitations, dynastic rule, lust for power, creating ditches between communities on caste and religion for vote bank from the DNA of those aspiring to become community leader as politician and inseminating genes of required standard for an end production that will stand to the required standards of the politics on the analogy of the Test Tube Baby in the form of 'Test Tube Politician' only then our future will be in safe hands.
