Early Times Report

Jammu, June 3: Castigating Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Ramji Sharma, for his failure to meet his words, Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) today protest against VC JU and sought Chief Minister's intervention to save the University.
Addressing a gathering here today, JYF State President Ajaz Khan said that VC's close aide involved in scams and using official positions are enjoying in the absence of accountability. Deepak alleged that the incumbent Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof Ramji Dass Sharma has ruined the prestigious University to satisfy his ego.
Ajaz Khan said that being head of institution he was bound to streamline the University, but since the day he took over the reign, Prof Sharma gave free hand to tainted officers/teachers; continue surfacing of scandal and nepotism has badly dented the image of the varsity.
"Accused of financial irregularities by internal audit conducted by the University of Jammu, a concurrent fellow, the then assistant professor, under patronage of Vice Chancellor, not only escaped action, but also became director in same department", Ajaz Khan said and added that in his report, Assistant Registrar, Internal Audit, University of Jammu had pointed out 25 cases of financial irregularities in the Department of Strategic and Regional Studies.
But the biased administration under Ramji's regime picked only two cases and targeted a faculty member, while shielding others; Ajaz Khan said and added the big fish and a liability of University, Dr V V V Nagendra Rao, who contribute nothing in academics, has been rather rewarded instead of showing door.
He said that the auditor in its report picked other flaws in maintenance of cash book, in point 17, the auditor had unearthed, misappropriation that went un-noticed. "No voucher/bill traceable on account of Rs 75000 paid to Dr Rao, by cheque no 120715 for Leh Seminar", he said citing audit report vide number, JU/IA/14/1692-95, dated 06/01/2014. Ridiculing incumbent Vice Chancellor, for his failure to take action against those who indulged in financial irregularities, he said the concurrent fellow, Dr V V V Nagendra Rao, has been made in-charge Director of Department of Strategic and Regional Studies by Vice Chancellor, it exposes VC's dual yardsticks and favoritism. Among those who were present in the protest included Amit Kumar, Munesh Sharma, Deepak Kumar, Rohit Slathia, Sunil Sharma, Kapil Kumar, Arjun Manhas, Rahil Malik, and others.
