BANDIPORA, June 18: Two more infiltrators have been killed after a gunfight broke out during the ongoing forces' operation launched in Panar forest area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district ten days ago. A top army official said that a fresh gunfight broke out between the militants and the joint team of army's 14 RR, 22 RR and Para Commandos in the dense forest area of Panar today morning. Two militants were killed in the operation adding that on June 14, two militants and an army soldier were killed in the operation, the official said. Earlier the army officer had said that six soldiers including an officer have been injured so far in the ongoing operation. Pertinently the operation was launched on June 9 when the militants and the security forces exchanged brief gunfire in Raiynar forests adjacent to Panar area of Bandipora district. How sources told early times that the joint team of forces and militants exchanged intermittent firing several times. A group of militants was believed to be hiding in the forest area, and this is the first anti terror operation that was launched after ceasefire came to an end in Kashmir, said sources. Sources said that the operation against militants was at halt but a major anti-terror operation post Ramzaan, four militants were killed in an encounter by the security forces on Monday morning in north Kashmir's Bandipora district. The operation against the militants in the dense forests of Panar was on till the last reports came in. |
