Highway widening poses risk to Moud village | Landslides scare villagers | | Arun Jasrotia Early Times Report Udhampur, June: 19 The four laning of Jammu-Srinagar highway has caused extensive damage to ecology in Udhampur district. Recent rainfall in district Udhampur caysed massive landslides in Moud area. The locals blame construction of the highway for the disaster. The landslides have posing serious risk to around fifty houses. Execution work without any protection wall to protect the land and houses of the common masses . Sandal Singh said that the recent landslide is manmade as the Gammon India engaged in widening of the National Highway is not following norms. "We are scared as the monsoon is coming and landslides will occur," he said. According to him the land sludes have adversely affected agricultural land. Ravinder Kumar IAS deputy commissioner Udhampur said he will enquire the matter and instruct ADC to visit the spot for assessing losses. |
