Food safety department harasses shopkeepers | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report Mendhar, June 19: In the name of lifting samples and registration of shops, the Food department is said to be allegedly harassing the whole salers and small shopkeepers in Mendhar town sources said here today. Officials of Food safety department including Food Inspector ask wholesalers to get the liceneces of their shops renewed and they charge Rs 5000 to Rs 10000 from each shopkeepers where as the renew charges for each licence is Rs 100 similarly small shopkeepers are asked to pay Rs 200 to Rs 3000 for the same purpose, source said . In other glaring example Food and safety deptt officials under the supervision of Assistant commissioner and Food inspector during their routine checking collect the samples from the shops in large quantity for testing purposes while no sample is being sent to any laboratory alleged the shopkeeprs while samples are collected in containers but the FSD lifts the samples in large huge quanity and that too in plastic bags and go away. Rajesh Kumar who runs a wholesale shop in the town said that he was asked to Pay Rs. 5000/- as renewal fee of his licence but when they gave me the receipt of fee three eas only Rs. 100 printed on it, Rajesh said while talking to Early Times. Meanwhile when contacted SDM Dr Tanveer Khan said that he too has received the complaints against the officials of FSD and appropriate measures will be taken to tackle the menace and a team will be also constituted to deal with an iron hand to end the malpractice of FSD officials, he added. |
