Schools remain closed, exam deferred | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 2: All schools in Srinagar district remained closed on Monday as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing weather conditions in Srinagar, though water level in the river Jhelum has receded and flowing below danger mark. Meanwhile, the first term examinations from 5th to 8th standards have been deferred and authorities have directed educational institutions not to hold any summer camps till further orders. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, has directed that all government and private schools will remain closed in Srinagar as a precautionary measure in view of the flood alert issued earlier after the water level in water bodies was above the danger mark due to incessant rain during the past three days. Educational institutions will function elsewhere in the valley as per schedule. Authorities further said that except the Srinagar district of Kashmir region, the first term examination of classes from 5th to 8th will be held as per schedule on Monday. Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) said new dates for all deferred exams will be announced later, separately. |
