JKDFCO lifts samples of medicines for quality assessment | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 17: The enforcement wing of the J&K Drug & Food Control Organization (JKDFCO) today lifted samples of various categories of drugs for quality assessment after complaints of inferior-quality medicines being sold in markets. The samples are being sent to a government analyst notified by the State for furnishing opinion with regard to their identity, purity and strength, a statement of the JKDFCO said. "Manufacturers found guilty of production of inferior quality drugs will be subjected to court trials under enabling provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act. Several guilty manufacturers have in fact already been penalized for committing breaches," the statement said. It was said that a fine of Rs 4.30 lakh has been imposed as a fine on erring manufacturers during the last two months. |
