Reasi, July 17: District Administration Reasi alongwith Indian Army today organized a plantation driver to plant more than 40, 000 trees saplings in the district. The drive was launched in Divisional Forest Officers of Mahore and Reasi Divisions, where school and college students also participated in the drive alongwith Indian Army's Uniform Force, 126th CRPF Battalion, Salal Power Project, NHPC and members of civil society. Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Parsanna Ramaswamy G, Major General Arvind Bhatia, and District Forest Officer (DFO), Reasi, Anwar Shah, the plantation drive was launched in the forest division. Speaking on the occasion, the experts highlighted importance of plantation drive which helps in preventing landslides, recharging the ground water level and preventing soil erosion to which Jammu and Kashmir is facing. The saplings for plantation drive were provided by the State Forest Research Institute, Jammu.
