| Militants injure civilian during 'gun salute' | | |

Srinagar, July 22: Police on Sunday claimed that a civilian was injured after militants offered a gun salute to their slain associates in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday.
An official claimed that militants while offering a gun salute to slain militant Mudassir at Shalipora Kulgam misfired towards a civilian. The civilian has received a bullet injury in his leg.
The injured civilian has been identified as Fayaz Ahmed, a resident of Shigan Pora Kulgam, however, Fayaz was soon shifted to Kulgam hospital for treatment, the official claimed.
Three militants were killed and an army man sustained injuries during an encounter in Redwani area of Kulgam. Gunfight had broke out between militants and security forces on Sunday Morning.
Police said that slain militants were responsible for kidnapping and killing police constable Mohd Saleem of Mutalhama Kulgam. |
