Funds drawn twice for a single road in Shopian | No action against tainted BDO | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 22: Following reports of loot of state exchequer by a Block Development Officer (BDO) in militancy infested Shopian, authorities are yet to take action against the officer inspite of clear proofs of embezzlement. The Directorate of RDD Kashmir has also not sought a detailed report as directed by the then Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Khurshid Ganai now advisor to Governor. Locals have appealed to the Advisor to Governor B B Vyas who is also incharge of Rural Development Department to seek a report from newly posted Director Rural Development Kashmir. As reported already the State Information Commission (SIC) had issued penalty notice against present and previous Block Development Officers (BDOs) of Shopian as both of them were found guilty of violating J&K RTI Act 2009. The officers not only violated the RTI law , but one of the BDOs has allegedly drawn funds twice for the same road that has been constructed in Largam village of the district. SIC has issued notice to Director Rural Development Kashmir as well directing him to probe the issue. Reliable sources say that Director Rural Development Kashmir did not file the report until his transfer and now new Director RDD Kashmir has taken over. The report was to be filed by July 10. "We appeal B B Vyas Advisor to Governor to get this matter probed and seek a report from Director RDD Kashmir" said G M Mir a local resident of Largam Shopian. |
