Paucity of staff cripples health services in Rajouri | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, July 22: Former PDP-BJP coalition government had failed to provide adequate staff including doctors (MBBS) at more than 32 health centres in Kandi Health Block in Rajouri districts. One can imagine how the poor people of Kandi Health Block are suffering as out of 20 sanctioned posts of Medical Officers (MBBS, permanent), 19 posts are vacant. Eight posts of dental surgeons are sanctioned in this health block out of which 4 are vacant while the government has created 6 posts of Medical Officers (MOs) under National Health Mission (NHM), out of which 4 posts are still vacant. Reportedly besides sub health centres there is one Community Health Centre (CHC) and 8 Primary health Centres (PHCs) under Kandi Health block. "Except one Medical Officer posted at Budhal PHC under NHM, all the remaining PHCs are running without doctors. At few PHCs including at Budhal, Peeri, Tarala & Jamola doctors under Ayush are providing treatment to the patients. Recently few health centres were found closed during surprise inspections because no man power was made available at these health centres and BMO was directed to adjust some staff at these centres. CHC at Kandi located at centre place is an important health centre. Four posts of MBBS doctors under permanent category and 2 posts under NHM were sanctioned for this centre. Dr Iqbal Malik, BMO said, "though we are facing many problems in managing the affairs of Kandi health block due to acute shortage of doctors/staff, However, in case of any medical emergency we manage the affairs with the help from CMO office. |
