Private bus operators fleecing in Udhampur, overcharge passengers | | | Early Times Report Udhampur, July 22: Owners of private transport vehicles, plying on Udhampur routes, are fleecing passengers by overcharging fare. But the Transport Department seems in deep slumber. A passenger preferring anonymity, while talking to Early Times said that he visited Ramnagar bought two tickets for Rs. 90 but actually fare was Rs. 42 per ticket. He said that he asked the conductor to give him balance but instead, the conductor used foul language. He alleged that the conductor had not mentioned fare of the said ticket. There were many passengers who were charged Rs.45. "When I insisted the conductor to mention the rate on the ticket he wrote Rs. 84 of two passenger's but he didn't return the balance and he didn't even mentioned the specific date, seat number, bus number and this is how the private bus as well as mini bus operators have been looting the passenger's by over charging the fare. Even though the fares have been fixed by the Transport authorities, but no list is pasted in most of the buses as well as minibuses for the convenience of passengers travelling in it . Passengers travelling in minibuses are being overcharged almost on all routes in outskirts. He added that they tried to approach the concerned Authorities to take up the issue but all in vain nothing done so far and arbitrary of the Private Mini Bus as well as buses continue without any check . He added that only issuance of the fair list hardly matters unless the authorities take some serious action against violators. |
