After Modi's win trust vote Govt to last till next election
7/22/2018 10:59:17 PM
Upbeat Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is to survive till the next Lok Sabha election. This is indicated by the confidence of Modi in winning the trust vote in the Lok Sabha which had been move d by the TDP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a dig at the "unwanted hug" he received from Congress chief Rahul Gandhi in Parliament, saying the coming together of many parties against the BJP would only help the 'lotus' bloom. The Congress plans to forge unity among various national level and regional level parties to oust the BJP. Will this alliance help the congress to defeat the BJP in the next Lok Sabha poll? Well the question is moot and the congress has shown the guts in Karnataka and other states where the alliance had won and the BJP's Government lasted not for more than a couple of days in Karnataka. And the TMC chief Mamta Banerjee too has pledged to oust Modi led Government which means she is also planning to join the grand alliance led by the Congress.
Modi's reference was to the coming together of several opposition parties in support of the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP in the Lok Sabha on Friday. The BJP-led NDA won the no-trust vote.
The Government had asked the reasons for their no-confidence but when they failed to give it they ended up giving an unwanted hug," Modi said, referring to Gandhi's embrace. And the way Rahul Ganhi gave a hug to Modi by walking to the Modi's seat indicated that Rahul was impatient for occupying the seat of the Prime Minister. But Rahul had to wait for the next Lok Sabha elections till then he has to sulk behind sending barbs against the Government. Modi said: "There is not just one 'dal' (political party) but dal over dal resulting in "dal-dal" (marshy land) which will only help the 'lotus' bloom.
This way the next election to the Lok Sabha is quite important not only for Modi but for the Congress and its alliance partners. And if Modi wins the election with an absolute majority the fate of the Congress and its alliance partners is sealed. But if the Congress wins the poll it may be the success of the grand alliance which was framed by the Congress. Besides Rahul Ganhi Modi has an enemy, rather a political foe, in Mamta Banerjee who had predicted that the TMC would win all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal in the next General Election, and has said the party would oust the BJP to save the country. She said the BJP's strength would drastically reduce in the next Lok Sabha polls. "We will win all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state. It is our pledge. We will oust the BJP to save the country. We will organise a big rally here in January and invite all the (opposition) leaders," she said at the TMC's annual Martyrs' Day rally in West Bengal. This way the next Lok Sabha election will be the BJP and its a few allies against the Congress and its allies whose number keeps on swelling.
