JAMMU, July 29: A fortnight long special coaching camp for the National Games prospects across eight sports disciplines at different venues, organised by the J&K Olympic Association (JKOA), concluded with the holding of a valedictory function, here today. Inspector General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Armed, Danesh Rana was chief guest, who interacted with the participating athletes, their coaches, officials and the members of the JKOA. He was all praise for the sports body (JKOA) in providing the sporting talent of the state platform to further sharpen their skills and abilities thus preparing for the prestigious National event. CAMPERS: Athletics- 20; Boxing- 16; Basketball-22; Fencing-15; Gymnastics-11; Weightlifting-11; Wrestling- 18 and Wushu-12. Earlier, president of the JKOA, Dushyant Sharma welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished gathering of athletes and coaches as also members of different sports associations at the concluding event. General secretary of the Association, Dr Ashutosh Sharma presented a detailed report of the camp and the objective behind holding the activity. He said that another similar camp shall be held later on in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council. It was also disclosed that a 15-day camp shall also be held for prospective athletes in Srinagar in the disciplines of Athletics, Rugby and Canoeing and Kayaking in September. He welcomed the appointment of new Secretary, J&K State Sports Council and assured him all help and cooperation from the JKOA in streamlining the organisation. He stressed for the completion of the ongoing infrastructural projects, especially in Jammu.
