Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, July 29: After witnessing low tourist arrival since last few years due to turmoil in the various parts of the Kashmir valley post the elimination of Hizb poster boy Burhan Wani in 2016, the tourist started rushing to Kashmir valley amid return of normalcy post implementation of governor rule in the state last month.
As per the details available with "Early Times", there is heavy rush of tourist in Srinagar itself and the world famous Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens Nishat and Shalimar these days is witnessing huge buzz of tourist including foreigners.
It was not only Srinagar Dal lake and gardens, major tourist resorts like Gulmarg, Phalgham, Doodpatri, Sonamarg, Daksum and adjoining Sinthan Top also witnesses heavy flow of tourist this season.
Speaking to "Early Times" the tourist said that peace is imperative for flourishing of tourism in the valley and its growth is directly proportional to prevailing situation in the valley.
Some of the tourist said that they keep the hawk's eye on the social media and news channels about the situation in the valley and after finding the feasibility; they immediately pack their bags and rush to enjoy the nature of the beautiful valley.
They said that the tourist besides visiting the religious places having pilgrimage values also prefer to enjoy the natural beauty of the valley, but it all depends on how the situation remains in the valley.
Some locals said that after the imposition of governor rule in the state after the fall out of the PDP-BJP government, the incident of violence and stone pelting comes down drastically bearing in few areas which normally remains no attraction for the tourist.
A hotel owner said that comparing to last year, this year witness a bit increase in tourism and hotel booking added that more efforts are required to bring back the tourism glory in the state of Jammu and Kashmir added that if anything suffers the most during Kashmir turmoil is the tourism industry and called for joint efforts of locals, state government and New Delhi in getting the tourism back on track in the trouble hit valley.
As the locals were speaking about the efforts required to bring back tourism in the state, the social media started circulating the massages of strike call given by the Joint Resistant Leadership (JRL) an amalgam of separatist leaders for August 5 & 6 next over the issue of Article 35-A and the same massage makes the people associated with tourism sector a bit disappointed.
They said that strike and chaloo calls had made the life of the people in valley a hell added that not only tourism sector, but business sector also hits badly due to such things.
They said that Kashmir business and economy is directly proportional to the influx of the tourist both from outside state as well as the foreign tourists.
"No one wants to take risk to open there shops during strike calls or chaloo calls as no body knows when a stone hit them or on their shops & vehicles-this is why majority of the people prefer to stay back at home during strikes" said a local.
They said that there is a need to keep away the tourism sector out of strike calls and chaloo calls and those at the helm of the affairs must find out some ways that can help the people of the valley to come out of the present turmoil so that they could leave their remaining life in peace and harmony.
