Early Times Report

RAJOURI, July 29: A four-member family had a narrow escape on Rajouri-Darhal road as the car in which they were travelling in skidded off the road allegedly due to bumpy surface and potholes filled with rain water.
The injured have been identified as Mohd Shokat his wife Sadia Parveen and two children. Police said the family left Darhal town for Rajouri in their car bearing registration No JK11B-1508 in the afternoon today.
As they reached near Marmu Tali about 3 kilometres from Darhal town, Shokat lost control on the car due to bumpy road and it fell in the fields.
People from nearby houses rushed to the spot and informed the police. All the four were rushed to the District Hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.
It is pertinent to mention here that Rajouri-Darhal Rajouri road is in pathetic condition as about five years ago Public Works Department (PWD, R&B had started the widening as well as black topping work on this road but only fifty percent work has been completed and the entire road is in bad condition. Sources said that as a contractor moved the Court over some issues, the work remained suspended for about 2 years.
On July 19 during his visit to Darhal, DDC has instructed the concerned Executive Engineers (PWD & PMGSY) to complete Darhal-Rajouri road on priority basis.
