Panic grips after guard fired in Pulwama sensing something amiss | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 29: Panic gripped Pampore area in south Kashmir district of Pulwama when a guard opened fire after noticing suspicious movement near the camp on Sunday, official sources said. They said a sentry, guarding a camp, fired warning shots in the air when he noticed some suspicious movement in the area at Pampore. People in the area ran for safety after hearing the firing shots, they said adding normalcy returned after some time. However, security forces immediately launched searches in the area where suspicious movement was noticed. Security forces are on high alert and did not want to take any chance after militants attacked two camps in the valley last evening. Six CRPF personnel were injured when militants attacked them with a hand grenade in Awantipora of Pulwama district. Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack. Next militant attack followed at Sopore , where militants fired a rifle grenade towards security forces camp last night. The grenade blast followed by some firing shots by the militants. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded without causing any damage. |
