KPC demands early abrogation of Article 35-A | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 31: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) has stressed that Article 35-A should be abrogated as it was leading to deprivation of rights of women, dalits and West Pakistan refugees settled in Jammu and Kashmir. It said that the Article was leading to separatist movement, self-rule movement and demand for greater autonomy in the state and was detrimental for Jammu and Kashmir youths due to lack of industrialization and lack of higher education was leading to unemployment. Kundan Kashmiri, President KPC while strongly supporting the abrogation of Article 35--A and Article 370, stated that the people who are raising hue and cry about safeguarding this Article know it very well that this is a temporary provision and it can be revoked with a stroke of pen and without any further delay. He stated that Kashmiri separatists are trying to build lot of pressure over the Government of India to use its influence to put Article 35-A into cold storage, which provides special rights to people of J&K. They have already called for a 2-day shutdown in the valley to begin with and have threatened to stir unrest if the Article is scrapped by the Supreme Court. Kundan appealed Government of India to allow the Supreme Court to go ahead with the decision and give justice to the people who are waiting decades together for the same and people who are raising un-necessary hue and cry should not be allowed to dictate terms all the time. |
