Thlordi is still a waterless village in digital India | | | Ashwani Sharma Early Times Report udhampur, July 31: Seven decades after independence, people of village Thlordi panchayat Satrari tehsil Majalta district Udhampur near here are facing lot of problems due to poor water supply and the concerned authorities are doing nothing in this regard. Locals told to Early times that for the last 15 days there is no water supply to this village which has made the life of people here very miserable. "We have no water to drink, to wash clothes. Our cattle too are suffering due to poor water supply," Nirmala-a housewife informed. Banwari Dass-a village elder said, girls and women have to trek 2-3 kilometers daily on rocky terrain to get water to make their kitchens function smoothly. "Life here is not like that of Babus whom we repeatedly visit in PHE offices with our water related problems which they take very casually and adopt delay tactics," Dass maintained. A retired teacher from this village said that authorities should check if this is not the violation of human rights and fundamental rights as water is basic requirement for life. The villagers have appealed to the Governor N.N Vohra to immediately look into the matter and get the water supply to their village go smooth so that the people here may heave a sigh of relief. When contacted AEE PHE Majalta Rocky Mahajan said that this is not our fault If mechanical department pumpis water regularly we will provide proper water supply to this village. |
