Early Times Report JAMMU, July 31: Hailing the Governor's decision to bar MLAs from official inaugurations, S S Bijral former Inspector General Police and BJP spokesperson said 'why inaugurate', where is the need?' Bijral said inaugurations and stone laying ceremonies have turned most favourite indulgence of public representatives. It is worth realizing while it gives them momentary false ego satisfaction, it wastes their most precious time and that of government functionaries needed for interaction with public for planning their welfare/ job oriented schemes, redressal of grievances, and better services in offices, he said . This, he said is besides wastage of public money in raising plaque stones, protocol, causing traffic disruptions and diverting hard pressed vital police resources from law & order duties to VIP security at the functions. Bijral, said this repulsive culture, rightly barred under Governor’s rule, has adversely affected professionalism and discipline as names of bureaucrats to just pamper them and build unwelcome bonhomie are also mentioned on the plaques. Asserting public expect representatives would imprint their names in their heart through honest dedicated working. He said dedicating treating service to people service to God ( nar seva Narain seva) for sure one would never be unseated. Pleading names on stones are relevant only at grave yard Bijral exhorted elected party representatives to dedicate for public welfare. |
